MedTrade 2005: Fried, friends, and photos -Mark E. Smith

The fact is, for those manufacturers' representatives working MedTrade, it's literally that - work.
Many arrive one to three days before the show for meetings and booth set up, then once the show starts,
most work nonstop for 3 days, in the booth all day, greeting hundreds, if not thousands, of people, demonstrating
products till loosing their voices, then having meetings and business dinners after hours. Yet, as most
would agree, it's a remarkable opportunity to be immersed in a culture where you know everyone, and everyone
knows you, where mobility is the common thread among everyone you meet.
For me, I'm taxed out
by the end of the week, too, having worked the booth, lost my voice, and stayed out later than I should.
But, it's a remarkable opportunity to be among so many colleagues, peers, and fellow users who just
"get it" - that is, the invaluable roles of mobility technology. This year, I had the pleasure of meeting
with so many great people - from attentive providers to inspired therapists to active users - speaking
with phenomenal personalities like Tim Gilmer, Editor of New Mobility, "Ramon OT", from the WheelchairJunkie.com
message board, and so many other great people.
With so much on everyone's schedule, it's tough
to take pictures - or remember to bring a camera! - which is a shame because there are so many memorable
moments each year. Nevertheless, a few friends were gracious to forward me pictures. In gratitude,
I'm pleased to publish them - with inspiration.
